About Steve
Steve has worked as a technology manager for the same established, global company for over 12 years. He is a respected professional, who loves his job because he enjoys the daily challenges and variety it provides, and appreciates being part of a company with a commitment to a good “work\life balance”. We especially appreciate the excellent benefits, including adoption assistance and parental leave opportunities.
Steve is also a retired naval intelligence officer with a Bachelor’s degree in History. He went to the University of Washington on a full scholarship, then enjoyed traveling the world and has lots of good sea stories to tell. Ask him about the time some angry Libyan sailors chased him along the docks of Naples with clubs… Or about the time he was on a small boat in seas so rough he had to be tied down to keep from washing overboard…
Steve has a sweet 25 year old daughter, Brittany, and an adorable three year old granddaughter, Karysma, who live near Seattle, Washington. We enjoy visiting with them and were happy to take Karysma on her first and second visits to the zoo, and on her first visit to the beach. Unlike her mother, Karysma didn’t shove a handful of sand into her mouth the first time she touched it. What a good girl! We recently celebrated Karysma’s third birthday with her and had a great time playing together with the new train set we got her.
Steve absolutely loves playing with children and he looks forward to being a new dad again. For example, at a recent third birthday party for a friend’s son, as all of the other adults were sitting around and watching the children play, Steve was the only adult jumping on the trampoline with the children - and making sure they were safe. He has never lost touch with his “inner child” and has made MANY children laugh and smile with his funny faces and Donald Duck
imitation.
Fun Facts About Steve
For fun, Steve enjoys many athletic pursuits and has been both a martial arts black belt, and a ski instructor. He would rather play a sport than watch it on TV! He also loves to read – mostly about science and history, with an occasional spy or mystery novel tossed in. Since his childhood, he also keeps up on the news, reading at least one newspaper a day.
Steve is no “tough guy” despite his naval officer and martial arts experience. He loves nature, and is a real softy when it comes to children and animals. When he lived in The City (San Francisco), he volunteered for two years at the neonatal kitten center, nursing helpless one-day-old to 6 week old kittens to health so they could be adopted.
Steve’s friends and family would describe him as kind, helpful, good-natured, fun, reliable, intelligent, curious, capable, athletic and humorous. For an example of his curious nature, he has been known to look up all of the spices in our spice cabinet on Wikipedia to learn more about their origins, uses and history. |
